MEMORIES OF THE MUNDANE WITH SOMETHING ABSTRACT

Director, 3D artist and animator

ABOUT:

This project was created for the 2020 "Festival of the Impossible". The concept of the festival was to create project around the idea of HOME & IDENTITY using Adobe's latest Augmented Reality App (AERO). The festival originally was supposed to take place in Lisbon and in the form of an installation; but given the circumstances of the pandemic due to Covid-19, I had to adapt the installation into a digital and shareable format. The final result is an animated short film shot using AERO.

"Memories of the mundane", is a visual journey as seen through my eyes. It's based on the bedtime stories my dad used to tell me and my twin brother about his trips when he as in the navy. That specific moment when I was laying down on my bed traveling through his words, was the first time I can recall using my imagination to create visual stories gathering elements of the mundane and the surreal. This project was created in collaboration with my twin brother Juan Pablo Egusquiza who was in charge of the sound design.
